Tulsi Gabrield, a former Hawaii Representative and one of Donald Trump’s most popular surrogates during his campaign has been waiting with baited breath for news on her role in the second Trump administration. Many on the right are heaving a collective sigh after hearing that Gabbard would be Trump’s Director for National Intelligence.
Trump’s announcement of Gabbard included the following:
I am happy to announce that Lieutenant Colonel Tulsi Gabriel, a former Congresswoman will be the Director of National Intelligence. Tulsi Gabbard has been fighting for the freedoms and country of Americans for over 20 years. She has wide support from both parties as a former candidate for the Democrat Presidential Nomination. Now, she is a proud Republican. Tulsi is a fearless woman who has a distinguished career. She will bring that same spirit to our Intelligence Community. She will champion our Constitutional Rights and secure Peace through Strength. Tulsi is going to make us proud!
Gabbard is a long-time favorite among many conservatives, thanks to her stunning performance in a Democrat primary debate where she criticized Kamala Harris’s lack of conviction on crime. Here’s some background:
Gabbard, who was attacking Harris from the right, began by saying: “I want the conversation to return to the broken criminal justice system that is disproportionately affecting Black and Brown people in this country today.” “Now, Senator Harris claims that she is proud of her prosecutor record and will be a prosecutor-president. This record is deeply concerning to me. It’s impossible to list all the examples, but she sent over 1,500 people to jail for marijuana offenses and laughed when asked if ever she smoked marijuana.
Gabbard has been seen on the campaign trail often with Donald Trump during this presidential election season. She made headlines when she officially became a Republican in October.
Tulsi Gabriel’s appointment is a clear indication that Donald Trump rewards loyalists by giving them key policy positions within his administration. The priority of national security is becoming apparent as he prepares to take office. He has already appointed Tom Homan, South Dakota Governor, and South Dakota Border Czar. Kristi Noem will be the Director of Homeland Security, and Rep. Mike Waltz from Florida will be the National Security Advisor.
Here’s some information about Gabbard’s new role.
The Director of National Intelligence is the chief of the U.S. Intelligence Community. He oversees and directs the National Intelligence Program, and acts as principal advisor to Presidents, National Security Councils, and Homeland Security Councils on intelligence issues relating to national security. The DNI is appointed by the President with the consent and advice of the Senate.
This news follows Trump’s announcement that he will nominate Senator Marco Rubio from Florida as Secretary Of State, and Congressman Matt Gaetz (R-FL) for Attorney General.
