Ryan Routh wrote to far-left Politico claiming he is not a Democrat. Routh was arrested in September for allegedly attempting to assassinate Trump.
To protect democracy, I do not link to fake stories. This Politico article is a new level of fake.
Politico’s standards are so low that you would think they couldn’t get any lower. Then, just when you thought it was impossible to go further, they publish talking points by a man facing murder charges and accused of trying to assassinate a person who represents the hope, will, and future of millions of Americans. I could have said the same thing about Kamala if she had been the target.
Political assassinations, therefore, are particularly heinous.
This article is blatantly dishonest. I have never seen an article so blatantly dishonest in my years of monitoring corporate media. If you want to quickly understand the content of an article or op/ed, you should read the first paragraph which outlines the thesis, and the last paragraph which summarizes the story.
The headline, the opening paragraph, and the closing paragraph of the article by Politico tell readers that it is impossible to know the motives of this alleged killer, despite the fact the letter of the alleged killer, which is quoted in full, clearly reveals the motive.
Headline: “One of Trump’s Alleged Attempted Assassins Sent Me a Letter.”
Politico’s first paragraph:
Donald Trump blamed Joe Biden, and Kamalah Harris the day following his second assassination attempt of this year. Trump stated that “their rhetoric causes me to be shot.” JD Vance, Trump’s running mate blamed Harris, as did other Democrats. The question of why the alleged would-be assassin Ryan Routh was motivated remained hotly debated heading into Election Day.
Politico’s final paragraph:
We can never know what agitated minds may have done to commit such a horrible act. Routh’s letter does not obligate you to believe him. He is not a very reliable narrator. You don’t need to believe the words of partisan politicians. In this polarized environment, the only certainty is that debates will continue.
The opening paragraph more than suggests that it was unfair for Trump and Vance to blame all the HitlerFascistDictatorAutocratDangerToDemocracy fear-mongering for encouraging two assassination attempts, the first of which ended with Trump getting shot in the face.
Politico’s final paragraph is a joke, claiming that “we don’t know why an agitated person would attempt such a horrific act.”
If you read the article, and especially the quotes by Routh himself, the mystery will be solved.
Routh wrote the letter before the election. In it, Routh stated that if Trump were to win the election, America “should remove all military power from the President’s hands and give it to Congress by January.” Routh also added: “We must limit the powers of the president before Trump takes over our country.”
Routh then calls Trump — and wait, it’s coming — a “dictator.”
Routh, who calls himself “Trump Alleged shooter” in the letter, still compares himself with Thomas Matthew Crooks. Crooks was the man who shot Trump at Butler, Pennsylvania over the summer. Routh stated that both Crooks and he were “ready” to die for democracy and freedom.
Routh is angry that Trump pulled out of the terrible Iran deal in his first term.
The article admits that the letter did not mention Harris. It then goes straight into the mystery: “In the final analysis, we cannot know what might have prompted an agitated brain to commit such a horrific act.”
We’ve got a real brain-twister here. What are we to think of an alleged killer who repeats the Biden/Harris talk of “dictator” and protects “freedom” against the Orange Bad Man?
Let me put it as clearly as possible… the only way to prove that some asshole is a leftist is if they write letters to Politico.
