Billy Long is a former Republican representative from Missouri. President-elect Trump announced that he will nominate Billy Long in a Truth Social post on Wednesday.
Trump said: “I am pleased to announce that former Missouri congressman Billy Long has been appointed the Commissioner of the Internal Revenue Service.”
Billy said that he has over 32 years of experience running his own real estate business and is one of the most well-known auctioneers in the country.
Trump said that his relationship with Long began in 2011 and called him “a people person”, who is “well-respected both on the right and left.”
Ballotpedia states that Long does not have a college degree. He briefly attended the University of Missouri before leaving in 1976.

He completed a program of training in auctions later at the Missouri Auction School. He won the title of best auctioneer in the Ozarks for seven consecutive years.
Danny Werfel, the IRS commissioner currently in office, holds three degrees. He has three degrees from Duke University, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and Cornell University.
Biden has appointed Werfel to a five-year term starting in 2022. Long will shorten this term if confirmed by the Senate.
Long, who failed in his bid to become Missouri’s Senator in 2022, compared himself with Trump’s political circle. He hired Jamestown Associates as his media strategist. The Republican media firm that ran ads for Trump’s campaign for president was hired to manage his campaign expenses.
He has made frequent appearances on Fox News with Tucker Carlson while trying to step into the political limelight and also previously served as a talk show host on KWTO AM 560 in Springfield, with a listening area that covered 95 counties.
