After a confrontation near Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen’s home early on Tuesday morning, a U.S. Secret Service Agent fired shots.

The Secret Service released a statement saying that at 1:30 a.m., on Tuesday morning, “an agent working near Yellen’s house observed a sedan with several occupants trying to open the car doors along the road.”

The Secret Service reported, “As the sedan approached, an incident occurred between the agents and the car’s passengers.”

The agent fired their weapon, but there is no indication the gunfire struck anyone, the Secret Service said.

Police are searching for the car’s occupants, who fled from the scene.

The Secret Service stated that “no protectees suffered any harm during this incident.”

The Metropolitan Police Department is currently investigating the incident.
