The Norwegian police announced Tuesday that the son of Crown Princess Mette Marit, 27, was arrested on suspicion rape. The police said that Marius Borg Hoiby was arrested on Monday night. He was the son of Crown Princess Mette-Marit and was born out of a relationship before Mette Marit married Crown Prince Haakon in 2001.

“What police can say about the rape is that it concerns a sexual act without intercourse. The victim is said to have been unable to resist the act,” they said.

In a statement issued later, the police claimed that they had “seizures” and searched the suspect’s house.

Borg Hoiby, who was raised by his royal parents along with Princess Ingrid Alexandra (20) and Prince Sverre Magus (18), has never played a public role.

Police said that the rape arrest came only months after he had been accused of bodily injury after an argument on August 4, at night, in the apartment of a woman with whom he had a relationship. Norwegian media reported that police discovered a knife in the bedroom of the woman at the time.

In September, he was arrested for violating an order of protection.

The police said that he was with the alleged victim in August when he arrested him on Monday.

Police said on Tuesday that domestic abuse is now included in the suspicions regarding the August incident.

The police said they have not yet decided whether or not he will be held in custody.
