In an 11th-hour move that screams Democrat privilege, President Joe Biden pardoned his son Hunter Biden who is a convicted felon. This has sparked a backlash from Capitol Hill to beyond.
Some Democrats have also criticized this move. They claim that Hunter Biden’s prosecution was not politically motivated, as Joe Biden claimed in his statement on Sunday announcing the decision.
Some mainstream media outlets have also criticized Biden for pardoning his son. They said, “We haven’t seen a pardon so sweeping as Hunter Biden’s in generations.”
Jill Biden, the First Lady of the United States, was the one who ultimately convinced Joe Biden to break his promise to uphold the rule of the law.
“There was pressure inside the family. We were told really in recent weeks that Dr. Jill Biden, First Lady Jill Biden, was very supportive of the president doing something like this. The president was not sure, but we have seen now he has come to the decision his son, Hunter.”
Watch:
This is not a big surprise. Jill Biden, as has been documented previously, was one of the most ardent supporters in Biden’s inner circle of trusted advisers when it came to the question of him running for another term in office, even though he knew he wasn’t in a condition to handle the grueling schedule of a campaign, let alone four more years in the White House.
She and Hunter were both reportedly key drivers in his refusal to withdraw from the presidential race after his disastrous debate with Trump in early July. Reports noted that, according to sources Jill Biden expressed fear that bowing out would make the Atlanta discussion a defining picture of her husband’s presidency, which she finds unacceptable.
Jill Biden and Hunter have been at the center of many decisions that had negative (long-term) consequences for the Biden Family. You can read what you want into that.
